Quick Tips for Power Users
- At any time you can get help by typing a ? in the search field. Also you may find specific help about a particular search engine by typing "? shortcut" (without the quotes). So if I want to know about the search engine about.com I would type "? about".
- Learn the shortcut keys for your favorite searches. For instance if I like to always search ebay, movie showtimes and get the current temp. In the search bar, I would type "ebay keyword phrase" (without the quotes) or "showtime zipcode" to get my local movie showtimes or "temp zipcode" for the current temperature. Also if you don't like our shortcut for a search you can change it to something easier to remember. Simply click the shark logo, select configure > searches, highlight the shortcut you want to change and type in your new shortcut. You may also remove searches from your list by unchecking each box.
- One often overlooked feature is the ability to search your internet explorer favorites. Type "fav keyword phrase" (without the quotes) to pull up any favorites that match your given terms.
- Sometimes you may find it necessary to temporarily disable the popup killer. Simply hold down the Ctrl key while clicking a link. This is usually necessary when you click on a link and nothing happens. This usually means the website is trying to open that page in a popup window.
- To quickly add a program to the program launcher, simply drag the icon to the program launch area of the toolbar. A menu will popup asking you which category to put it in. Simply select the category and your new program is added to the launcher.
- You can add your own custom sites to news. Simply click the shark logo, select configure > news then click the add button. And highlight the newly created link and input the title and url for your favorite news site. You may also select one of our 100's of predefined news categories from the left menu in news.
- You can create a standalone toolbar in addition to the one in internet explorer. Click Here for specific instructions. You may also decide what you want to show and hide in your new toolbar. Simply click the shark logo, select configure > default, the check boxes at bottom control what features you want in each bar.
- You can change your default search engine. Simply click the shark logo, select configure > defaults then select and add your default Se's. Finally select which of these you want to be your primary search engine. This is the one results are displayed for when you type in a keyword with no shortcut.

- CTRL-SHIFT-CLICK can open a link in a new window while the page is still loading in ie.
- Some functions such as "temp zipcode" are what is known as webservices. These take a few seconds to execute just like a regular webpage. Since data is being retrieved for the web. For some of the more complex web services that return multiple results by selecting one of the multiple results the data is automatically copied to the clipboard.
